From textile-machinery expertise to pilot engineering, nanofibers, biomaterials and industrial implementation—EPCOTEC’s development is a continuous technical path shaped by people, projects and long-term partnerships.
2017
EPCOTEC was founded in Aachen by Alfred Esser, a German textile-machinery executive with more than four decades of industry experience, including many years at Krantz Textiltechnik. His combination of technical knowledge, international commercial experience and close customer relationships established the company’s engineering-led, pragmatic and service-oriented foundations.
2020
A move to larger premises in Stolberg created room for the next stage of the company’s development. The site combined offices with warehouse capacity, equipment demonstration, assembly and technical-development areas—bringing customer dialogue and practical engineering work closer together.
2020
Abi Fini, EPCOTEC’s principal shareholder, assumed operational responsibility as Managing Director. His long international experience in synthetic-fibre projects, textile laboratory technology and cooperation with major European textile-technology companies strengthened EPCOTEC’s ability to connect process requirements, equipment selection and project execution.
2021
EPCOTEC joined the BIOTEXFUTURE innovation environment, reinforcing its activities in bio-based materials and more sustainable textile technologies. The milestone widened the company’s interface between conventional textile engineering, emerging feedstocks and application-driven process development.
2022
At FILTECH 2022 in Cologne, EPCOTEC presented its electrospinning and nanofiber technology to an international filtration audience. The event marked an important expansion into advanced filtration media, functional surfaces and material structures whose performance is engineered at micro- and nanoscale.
2023
EPCOTEC’s participation at ITMA 2023 Milan reflected its continuing international textile-technology activities. Alongside project engineering, the company presented its perspective on practical laboratory and quality-control equipment that connects measurable material performance with reliable industrial processing.
2023
The EPCOTEC R&D Center at HIMO created a dedicated environment for translating technical questions into testable hardware and production concepts. Development is structured as a continuous evidence-based route from the initial idea to validated industrial implementation.
ONGOING
Regular participation at JEC World connects EPCOTEC with the international composites community. It supports dialogue around technical textiles, advanced fibres, lightweight structures and the integration of fibre-production knowledge into composite-material value chains.
2024
EPCOTEC delivered its first machine intended for medical-related research applications to Universitätsklinikum Halle. The project supports controlled investigation of nanofiber structures for localized and controlled drug-delivery concepts. The equipment provides a reproducible research platform; any medical performance remains subject to the relevant scientific, clinical and regulatory validation.
2024–2026
Participation in German biotechnology events is expanding EPCOTEC’s network across textile engineering, biomaterials, biotechnology and medical applications. These exchanges help connect process engineering and scalable machinery with the needs of research institutes, developers and emerging application partners.
2025
EPCOTEC began a cosmetic-pad development project with Respilon, linked to Fini Health and the application of advanced textile structures and nanofiber technology. The work brings together material selection, functional-layer design, controlled production and application-focused evaluation within a structured development path.
2025
EPCOTEC acquired an industrial property of more than 1,500 m², including approximately 400 m² of production areas as well as offices and warehouse facilities, in an established industrial environment near major operations including Saint-Gobain. The company subsequently reassessed the timing of this expansion. The property is currently leased while EPCOTEC evaluates the scale, configuration and timing of its future manufacturing requirements.
